Position Title: Armed Security Supervisor
Rate of Pay: $20.04/hr
Position Overview
Performing various day-to-day supervisory responsibilities including preparing shift schedules, training replacement security officers, disciplining when necessary and reporting to proper chain of command and provide security for the personnel and property of, and visitors to, assigned Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) property.
Responsibilities
- Understand and comply with all requirements defined within company documents to include: Post and General Orders, plans, policies, procedures.
- Performing various day-to-day supervisory responsibilities including preparing shift scheduled, training replacement security officers, disciplining when necessary and reporting to proper chain of command.
- Ensuring security guards arrive on time and are prepared to begin work
- Observing the security guard’s work habits, appearance, overall performance, and verifying applicable patrol.
- Observe and report all offenses/incidents
- Complete all reports and paperwork as required
- Protect personnel and property in a professional manner
- Meet and deal tactfully and politely with general public and visitors
- Effectively and efficiently screen and process visitors
- Identify, report, delay or detain persons who violate rules and regulations
- Conduct internal and external roving foot patrols
- Maintaining high visibility, answer routine questions for directions and handle minor problems.
- Detect and respond to alarms and emergencies
- Secure entrances and exits during emergencies
- Control keys and lock combinations
- Communicate and remain accessible via two way radio or company issued cellular phone
- Understand and comply with all requirements defined within company documents to include: Post and General Orders, plans, policies, procedures.
- Observe and report all offenses/incidents
- Complete all reports and paperwork as required
- Serve as primary points of contact for TxDOT
Qualifications:
- Must be mentally alert and capable of exercising good judgment, implementing instructions, and assimilating necessary specialized training.
- Must have the ability to speak, read and write the English language.
- Must have the ability to understand and carry out oral and written direction and write accurate and clear reports
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen
- Must be a U.S. citizen or be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must possess a high school diploma or G.E.D.
- Possess a valid driver license acceptable in the state of Texas (if you will be driving to work).
- Possess a valid TWIC card.
- Have a minimum of three years of actual experience within the past five years, excluding training, as an armed security guard and in on-site and off-site management of security guard personnel.
- Three years of knowledge and experience in law enforcement and/or security guard service procedures, including maritime procedures, and managing security personnel under MARSEC levels.
- Be licensed as commissioned officers.
- Have successfully completed the state of Texas approved armed security guard training courses.
- Possess the required state of Texas permits and directives to carry a weapon
- Possess a current First Aid/CPR/AED certification
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to walk unassisted for a minimum of 500 yards, climb stairs and be able to lift and carry 20 pounds
- Be able to stand continuously for up to two hours at a time and up to 12 hours in a 24-hour period.
- May be subject to outdoor conditions including extreme temperatures and weather
- Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time
- Must meet all physical and psychological standards as required by the contract
