Responsible for assisting the Manager, Protective Force Operations with the efficient operation of the Centerra — Los Alamos Protective Force (PF). Assists in developing and/or implementing policy to ensure Protective Force Operations are conducted in accordance with DOE/NNSA/LANL and Centerra-Los Alamos operational directives and guidelines. Assists in ensuring continuity between the DFS’ Security Division and Centerra’s Protective Forces Operation Department. Provides guidance and direction to and oversees PF supervisors, responds to Bargaining Unit employees grievances and provides conflict resolution. Assists in overseeing conduct of PF operations; identifies training and procedural shortcomings and implements corrective action; and ensures Protective Force personnel are adequately trained and are provided appropriate equipment. Manages and directs the Planning and Operations Section. Ensures that all work is executed in accordance with Integrated Safety Management (ISM) and Integrated Safeguards and Security Management (ISSM) functions and principles. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. S. or B.A. in an appropriate discipline from a recognized college/university or equivalent combination of academic training and experience.
  2. More than 10 years of work related to administrative and operational experience, and knowledge of DOE O 473.3A, DOE O 470.4B, and 10 CFR 1046.
  3. Requires a minimum of 7 years of Department of Energy (DOE) armed security operations and or managerial experience.
  4. Demonstrated leadership, oversight and supervisory skills, project management skills, effective written, oral, and presentation skills, executive communication skills and knowledge of DOE and NNSA training policies, requirements, and practices.


Desired Qualifications

  • Currently have or be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-Clearance and Human Reliability Program (HRP) certification.
  • Possess or obtain and maintain a New Mexico valid driver’s license.
  • Remain qualified on all applicable certifications and successfully complete DOE and Company required training courses.
