Job Purpose:

 

The Captain serves as a mid-level manager operating between the PM/DPM and Firstline Supervisors.  Provide operational leadership of personnel, coordinates with the customer to plan, schedule, and execute required daily requirements.   

 

General Description of Duties:

 

The Captain provides leadership to Firstline Supervisors, coordinates scheduling of the regional team, and is responsible for the operational readiness of their area of responsibility.   The Captain conducts internal quality control inspections, including uniform and equipment checks, issues verbal and written counseling and initiates disciplinary actions as necessary.

 

This position uses sound judgment to prioritize and complete assignments, some of which consist of numerous steps varying in nature and sequence.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be a US citizen
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a H.S. Diploma or GED.
  • Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must have a minimum of five years of experience as a Security officer and two years of successful experience in field supervision
    • The two-year requirement may be satisfied by completion of a career development program that includes work-related experience, training, or college credits at a level of achievement equivalent to the basic requirement
  • Must have intermediate written English skills, including ability to prepare detailed written reports and fill out forms.
  • Must possess a valid commercial driver’s license
  • Must be able to pass all training and obtain all required certifications.
  • Must be able to pass US Government background investigation for required security clearance.
  • Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968, Suitability applies.

 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

Requires excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills for interacting with subordinates and customers and perform multiple tasks in tandem.

Requires the ability to work effectively as a member of the management team, and work without day-to-day on-site supervision.

 

Specific Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all Operations in the area of responsibility and ensure excellent performance that meets all requirements and standards.
  • Provide supervision, guidance and on-the-job training to improve Officer Skills, reinforcing the critical nature of the Officer’s responsibilities
  • Responsible for assuring consistent delivery of service regardless of shift or location, for taking immediate action to correct problems detected and for responding whenever called upon
  • Maintain full staffing by filling any open posts with reserve or stand-by personnel and managing “call-offs” due to illness or other reasons
  • Brief Officers during muster and post checks regarding any changes in Post Orders, or any unusual or emergency situations
  • Conduct on-the-job training to correct deficiencies in Officer Performance, or to strengthen and refresh Officer knowledge of critical skills and issues
  • Report any emergency situation to Program Management team
  • Conduct administrative investigations of criminal and non-criminal incidents to include personal injury and traffic accidents
  • Document incidents with complete and accurate verbal and written reports
  • Review the sign-in/out sheets to ensure proper timekeeping by Officers
  • Manage break schedules and ensuring that all Officers receive breaks and proper relief

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

Work is typically based in a busy office environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Business work hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, however some extended or weekend hours may be required. 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

May be required to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 25 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday.
