Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Protective Force is accepting applications for open positions in the Central Alarm Station. The Central

Alarm Station (CAS) is a major component in the operation and protection of DOE Headquarters security interests.

The CAS Operators are responsible for monitoring the C-Cure system to detect and deter unauthorized access to

controlled areas and to monitor certain environmental conditions, (i.e., audible) at the Headquarters facilities. The

CAS is the primary communications center for Contractor Protective Force (CPF) operations at the DOE Headquarters Forrestal and Germantown facilities. Notifications to PF management, Federal Oversight (EHSS-41), local law enforcement, and/or emergency rescue agencies will be made by the Shift Supervisor or delegated to the CAS Operators.

  

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor facility through Closed Circuit Television (CCTV)
  • Dispatch Armed Security personnel to resolved alarms
  • Respond as directed by Supervision to all security and non-security incidents

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education:  Applicant must possess a high school diploma, or its state recognized equivalent.
  • Experience: Applicant must have at least one (1) year experience in operating a Central Alarm Station (CAS).
  • Clearance:  At a minimum, the individual proposed must possess a DOE (Q) security clearance or must meet the eligibility requirements that will reasonably ensure a DOE (Q) clearance is obtained and must retain the clearance while assigned as a CAS Operator/Monitor.
  • Training: Applicant must be certified in CAS operations or meet requirements that reasonably assure the individual will be certified within 90 days of assuming the position.
  • Applicant must meet and maintain DOE Security Police Officer I (SPO) standards as defined by 10 CFR 1046 and DOE Orders and Directives. Applicant must maintain the SPO I status while assigned as a CAS Operator/Monitor.
  • Applicant must be capable of communicating effectively both in oral and written form.
  • Applicant must have demonstrated the ability to write reports and observations clearly and concisely.
  • Prior armed security, law enforcement, and military experience preferred. 

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

Work is typically based inside a busy government facility with some outside work on the facility grounds.  Work hours are 12-hour shifts, days or nights, to include weekends and holidays.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

May be required to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 25 lbs. Requires extend standing, walking, sitting, squatting, and bending throughout the workday. Required to perform Physical Training twice per week.
