POSITION SUMMARY
Seeking Aircraft Rescue Firefighting (ARFF) for Chennault International Airport and its surrounding areas.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Respond to any ARFF, EMS, or Hazmat incident on or near the airport.
- Conduct Runway / safety checks of the airfield at random intervals
- Conduct extinguisher checks
- Check and maintain all emergency vehicles and all rescue tools
- Test and inspect fire hose and hydrants
- Maintain the cleanliness of the fire station and its grounds
- Conduct standbys for tenants and charters
- Conduct fuel farm and fuel hauler inspections
- Conduct Tower and other building inspections
- Conduct wildlife dispersal on the airfield
- Inspect and maintain SCBAs
- Respond to protective alarm signals or other unusual/suspicious activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Be a United States Citizen or a legal alien
- Have telephone and transportation as to be available for emergency situations
- Possess a valid driver’s license meeting the incurable requirement of the customer
- Understand both verbal and written English with the ability to effectively communicate with people
- No prior felony convictions
- Complete pre-employment DOT physical and drug screen
- Complete SCBA fit testing
- Background investigation
- High School education or GED equivalent
- Hazardous Materials Operations
- Firefighter I
- Firefighter II
- ARFF
- Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience at an airport working on the flight line or Firefighter or EMS or heavy equipment operator experience or any combination thereof
- Candidates with Hazmat, Firefighter, ARFF, or EMS certifications will be considered before all others
- Strong teamwork and communication skills. Must be flexible/adaptable to constantly changing environment
- Basic level keyboard and computer skills
- Ability to follow a chain of command
- Ability to use sound judgment in stressful situations and capable of staying alert during period of inactivity
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Ability to work during inclement weather
- Subject to high noise levels
- Subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals
- No travel required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- May be required to lift and carry heavy weight.
- Must be able to perform all tasks of a Firefighter/EMS professional.
- Must be able to perform tasks while wearing an SCBA and full firefighting PPE.
- Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday.
