POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Global Alarm Monitor Technician (GAMT) works in the Customer’s Global Security Operations Center (SOC) and monitors alarm systems and CCTV outside the Washington DC Metropolitan area.  The GAMT monitors Closed-Circuit Televisions (CCTV) for suspicious activities, processes incoming alarm signals in adherence to the Customer’s policy and follows designated Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Monitor and respond appropriately to a variety of alarm signals. Analyze the alarm signals and determine the correct course of action. The response must be timely and accurate, with particular attention given to general procedures and special instructions.
  • Monitors alarm system(s) for problems; identifies and records malfunctions or equipment failure; analyzes situations, determines the course of action to take, and contacts appropriate personnel per established guidelines.
  • Writes incident reports and completes appropriate forms; maintains documentation and records; provides testimony regarding incidents, as needed; Maintains a daily log of events during assigned shifts.
  • Assists with testing of alarm systems
  • Serve as a resource to answer inquiries regarding authorized and unauthorized access to the Customer’s buildings and properties.
  • Think and act quickly, calmly, and accurately in emergency situations and under stressful circumstances.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers. Follow all post instructions and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Answer phone calls and respond to each caller professionally and helpfully while gathering information, providing guidance, and troubleshooting.
  • Complete assigned duties as requested. Assist other GAMTs and the Customer’s representatives’ special requests to support a teamwork atmosphere to benefit our Customer and Omniplex.  
  • Participate in job-related training to continually refresh and update knowledge.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Minimum of 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Impeccable customer service skills.
  • Possess good writing skills and ability to make decisions quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and able to multitask with little assistance.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and able to interpret documents to ensure all rules and procedures are being applied.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to maintain telephone rapport with customers at all levels.
  • Ability to complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Ability to apply reasoning skills and document them oral, written, and/or diagram form.
  • Ability to solve problems until completion.
  • Ability to work in a MS Windows based operating environment, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must have the required current Top-Secret clearance and full-scope polygraph.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This is a 24/7 365 position requiring working outside of regular business hours; may sit for prolonged periods; required to view computer/alarm monitors and review printed incident and alarm reports constantly during a shift; requires finger dexterity to operate the computer keyboard and do some workstation and printer maintenance. The workday is spent in a Security Operations Center environment with noise exposure to different alarm sounds and two-way radio transmissions.
