Position Overview

Monitor NFS systems, operations, and communications from the NFS Operations Center (OC), providing coordination, communication, and documentation as described in the NFS Operations Center Procedures. The NFS Operations Center will operate 24/7 and require OCS’s to work shift work.



  • Maintain Knowledge of Operations Center (OC) Procedures
  • Maintain Knowledge of OC battle Drills Response Guides
  • Monitor 1444 Emergency Telephone and Dispatch Emergency Response when required
  • Conduct Emergency Response Organization (ERO) Alert Notification Tests
  • Collect data and provide initial turnover information to the Emergency Control Center
  • Monitor Plant Criticality and Fire Alarm Systems for trouble alarms
  • Perform PA announcements as directed by procedure or Plant Superintendent
  • Take incoming calls to the OC and make notifications according to OC procedures
  • Maintain a chronological log containing details of events of significance
  • Communicate with area hospitals during emergency medical events
  • Field incoming calls for transportation accidents
  • Monitor and report significant events from the national news
  • Monitor Weather for inclement weather and make appropriate notifications
  • Monitor Security Radio Traffic and other designated radio traffic
  • Maintenance of the Plant Status Line
  • Track work alone employees


  • Must be at least 18 years of age and a US Citizen.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • 4 years of experience in one of the following: Operations Center, Security, Emergency Response, Dispatching Emergency Services, Law Enforcement, Military Service, Nuclear Industry experience.
  • General Computer Skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves extended periods of sitting while engaged with a computer terminal or phone.
  • Must have close visual and audio acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; determining the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work; or to make general observations of facilities or structures
  • Must meet all physical and psychological standards as required by the contract
  • Travel may be required
