Directly monitor the operational status and analyze the performance of sensors supporting the DOD D&M Mission. Sensors may include Tethered Aerostat Radars (TARS), US Ground Based Radars (GBRs), PN GBRs, Tactical Data Link (TADIL), Costal maritime radar, ADS-B, AIS, etc. Intel and quality analysis shall be conducted utilizing tools such as Radar Data Interface System (RDIS), Radar Evaluation Squadron (RADES) System III/IV (RS3/4) software, CDRADES, Radar Analysis Program (RAP) software and miscellaneous other analysis tools.

Location: Key West, FL (JIATF)

  • Assist as requested with basic user actions on RDIS
  • Assist and train Watch Floor operations personnel as required
  • Working directly with Government Operations personnel, advise them on the optimal radar settings to use to improve detection of targets of interest based upon careful analysis of recently collected radar data
  • Correlate Line-of-Sight (LOS) and Over the Horizon (OTH) radar tracks to tracks and intercept points derived from other information systems to provide a more complete Air/Maritime Domain Awareness and shall analyze and document positional information on Tracks of Interest, and unusual/suspect traffic patterns, to enhance the counterdrug D&M and intel missions.
  • Perform height performance checks, reinforcement rate checks, and probability of detection checks
  • Develop and maintain a point of contact (POC) listing that details who to call in the event of a data outage (i.e. Security Cooperation Office (SCO), PN Technician, Federal Aviation Agency (FAA)/MASS/TARS Job Control, etc.), and assist in the troubleshooting and restoration of surveillance data in the event of an outage to include PN systems
  • Produce a daily radar status report (DRSR) (based on previous 24 hour recording) detailing the status of all data inputs to the JIATF-S RDIS
  • Provide expertise regarding CD/CNT operations, resources, requirements, and program metrics
  • Review radar data for performance deficiencies of all radars and radar data feeds into JIATF-S RDIS
  • Produce special reports to document equipment performance when tasked
  • Coordinate with JIATF-S personnel to contact appropriate O&M agencies to obtain equipment status information
  • Initiate corrective maintenance when required
  • Compile information, analyze, complete, and send the JIATF-S Daily Radar Status Report (DRSR) for all radars and radar data feeds into the JIATF-S Common Operating Picture (COP) (
  • Provide radar analysis support to the JIATF-S Air Bridge Denial (ABD) program
  • Provide radar analysis support for JIATF-S and other US government agencies as needed
  • Must be willing to travel (up to 25%)
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Secret Clearance required
  • At least 5 years of technical experience, with 3 years in the SOUTHCOM AOR in support of the CD/CNT D&M mission
  • Experience using radar data analysis tools (RDIS, RS3/4, RAP) to assess and report on radar performance and data quality
  • Knowledge of radar systems and C2 systems currently used within the SOUTHCOM AOR
  • Knowledge of radar principles and trafficking operations
  • Experience conducting operational analysis of tracks of interest
  • Fluent in technical and conversational speaking, reading and writing in Spanish (DLPT Level 2), and the ability to translate between English and Spanish desired
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical or management discipline
  • Previous military experience preferred
  • Strong computer literacy
