Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Senior Travel Specialist is responsible for promoting travel philosophy and services through good customer service techniques.  This position is 100% remote.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees quality control on all reservations made by the travel specialist staff
  • Reconciles monthly credit card bills and vendor bills
  • Ensures department meets all Export Compliance requirements
  • Ensures tickets and reporting meet cost reimbursable requirements
  • Tracks refunds for unused tickets
  • Arranges airline, hotel and car rental reservations, including changes
  • Responds to requests for price quotations for domestic and international itineraries
  • Promotes acceptance of fares, rates, and suppliers that match company travel program policy and negotiated contracts to include applying discount programs as appropriate
  • Handles changes and exchanges for travel
  • Reviews airline, ground transportation and lodging rates and cross references government rates where applicable
  • Ensures compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards, and guidelines
  • Stays informed of all airline rules, regulations, and current affairs. Communicates information accurately and appropriately
  • Prepares and/or process documents, reviews for accuracy and completeness; compares elements for consistency or logical relation, and updates information and/or evaluates against policy.
  • Ensures the accuracy of ticketing and reservations
  • Responds to inquiries concerning routes, accommodations, and other travel details via telephone and/or e-mail in an efficient and timely manner
  • Assists in tracking and updating database as it relates to travel
  • Works with travel team to ensure financial goals are met
  • Supports 24/7 environment, making travel and possible financial decisions

 QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Five (5) years of experience in corporate or commercial travel required
  • Strong computer skills are required, including MS Office Suite and Internet skills
  • Experience with Worldspan/Galileo preferred
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion
  • Problem solving skills with an analytical thought process

 WORKING CONDITIONS

 

Work is typically based in a busy office environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Business work hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, however some extended or weekend hours may be required. 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

May be required to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 25 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday.
