POSITION SUMMARY
The Shipping Coordinator will perform a variety of duties to support the shipping department and freight forwarder to ensure on-time delivery of shipments. Will properly package shipments for CONUS and OCONUS transit, create shipping documentation, bills-of-lading, etc. and arrange transportation schedules with carriers. Will identify and assist with implementation of process improvement and cost reduction.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments
- Route outgoing shipments through various freight forwarders and schedules transportation of shipments
- Maintain shipment files, issues reports, and respond to customer inquiries regarding status of shipments
- Construct and package tri walls and other various types of shipments for CONUS and OCONUS destinations
- Operate forklift, inventory picker, and pallet-jack to pull and move stock for staging or shipment
- Create shipping documentation including bills of lading, shipping labels, and export paperwork (NAFTA Certs, AES filing, Hazardous Material Declarations)
- Negotiate rates and services and initiate routings where necessary
- Work closely with logistics providers to assure on-time delivery of shipments
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Five years of professional experience in domestic and international shipping required
- Knowledge of DOC and DOS regulations (ITAR/EAR), ECCN, Schedule-B, USML Categories and AES required
- IATA/Hazmat shipper certification required
- Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion
- Problem solving skills with an analytical thought process
- Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is typically based in a busy office environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Business work hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, however some extended or weekend hours may be required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to lift, lower, carry, push or move objects up to 25 lbs. Various tasks may require intermittent standing or prolonged sitting, and the ability to walk, reach, kneel, crouch and handle work related supplies and tools.
