POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Senior Explosives/Ammo Supply Technician is responsible for the highly specialized care and management of ammunition, explosives, and their components. The technician will perform inventory control duties of receiving, storing and inspecting stored materials to ensure stability of all items. The technician will also provide support to other business units and customers in the disposal of expired or partially used munitions.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safely handles live explosives
  • Assembles, disassembles, renovates, transports, loads, reloads, deactivates, modifies, destroys, and handles munitions and ammunition components.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Handles, identify and examine stored ammunition and explosives, components, storage areas, and transportation conveyances to determine true condition, detect defects, deterioration trends, and non-standard and hazardous methods of storage.
  • Assists in planning, ordering, and ensuring availability and serviceability of ammunition and explosives to meet training requirements.
  • Maintains and/or assists in maintaining ammunition and explosives inventory and records.
  • Handles, identifies, and examines the live turn-in of ammunition to determine the condition and packaging of ammunition.
  • Performs damage-in-transit, periodic, receipt, and visual examination of ammunition received to determine true condition.
  • Interprets technical publications applicable to numerous types of ammunition and explosives.
  • Perform daily inventory management duties consisting of cycle counts, maintain database records and systems.
  • Responsible for impromptu inspections of inventory records by Federal Agency.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be US Citizen
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Two (2) years current experience in munitions and explosives handling, maintaining, and accountability required
  • Knowledge of safety practices pertaining to handling ammunition and explosives required
  • Prior military experience and munitions handling training preferred
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization (including management, peers, team members and customer-base)
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion
  • Problem solving skills with an analytical thought process. Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
  • Capable of obtaining Explosives Safety Certification
  • Forklift Certified or able to achieve.
  • Must be able to obtain Responsible Person or Employee Possessor clearance for explosives licenses through ATF.

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

Work is typically based in a busy office environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Business work hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, however some extended or weekend hours may be required. 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

May be required to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 25 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday.
