Armed Special Police Officer

POSITION SUMMARY 

We are currently hiring Armed Special Police Officers to work at the Court Services and Supervision Offenders Agency located in Washington DC. Various full-time shifts are available for those who possess a minimum of three years of Law Enforcement or Corrections experience and looking to become part of a team that allows growth.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct security screening (to include screening with magnetometers, hand wands, x-ray machines, and hand searches of property where x-ray machines are not employed)
  • Patrol areas inside and outside the CSOSA locations
  • Maintain fixed, stationary positions at the entrances to CSOSA facilities and other designated areas in order to prevent unauthorized entrance
  • Serve as a personal escort for designated personnel and visitors, which may include, but not be limited to, escorting from one room to another, one floor to another, from the facility to the parking areas
  • Responsible for the detection and detainment of any person or persons attempting to gain unauthorized access to the property
  • Monitor and operate building fire alarm and intrusion detection systems and other protection devices or building equipment

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

You are a U.S. Citizen and at least 21 years of age.

You have a H.S. diploma or GED.

You must have at least 3 calendar years of verifiable law enforcement, or corrections professional experience and/or its military equivalency

Position Overview

Staff armed security posts and provide security for the personnel and property of, and visitors to, assigned US Government Property. May also work in a Control Center.

 

Responsibilities

  • Regular, in-person attendance is required
  • Protect personnel and property in a professional manner
  • Meet and deal tactfully and politely with general public and visitors
  • Effectively and efficiently screen and process visitors
  • Identify, report, delay, or detain persons who violate rules and regulations
  • Conduct internal and external roving foot patrols

  • Detect and respond to alarms and emergencies
  • Secure entrances and exits during emergencies
  • Control keys and lock combinations
  • Communicate and remain accessible via two way radio or company issued cellular phone
  • Understand and comply with all requirements defined within company documents to include: Post and General Orders, plans, policies, and procedures
  • Observe and report all offenses/incidents
  • Provide first aid, CPR, and assist during emergencies as necessary
  • Must be able to wear protective body armor as a part of the duty uniform
  • Maintain mandated training requirements in accordance with company guidance
  • Maintain physical fitness, agility requirements, and weapons qualifications
  • Ensure safety requirements compliance and safe work practices
  • Support safety programs and participate in Quality and Process Improvement programs
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • ARMED experience only
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • A US citizen with a social security card. NO DUAL CITIZENSHIP.
  • 3 years of ARMED security experience within the past five years; [OR]
    • An Associate’s Degree in a related field and at least one year of ARMED experience; [OR]
    • 3 years of military or National Guard (active duty or reserve) experience; [OR]
    • Successful completion of a state certified Police Officer’s Standard Training (POST) course; [OR]
    • Any reasonable combination of the above within last 5 years and reasonable combination of experience, school, military, or training (equivalent to 3 years)
  • Must possess an armed DCJS firearms permit and guard card
  • Must possess a valid, unrestricted automobile driver’s license
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to fluently read, write, and speak English
  • Must be capable of passing a background check, medical and psychological evaluation, drug test, and weapons qualification
  • Must be willing to attend our (paid) training Academi for 4 weeks Monday-Friday.

Background Investigator – Alexandria, VA

POSITION: Background Investigator

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conduct federal background investigations and prepare reports of investigations in compliance with ICD 704 standards, all laws, and other required federal agency regulations. Work cases throughout the geographic area of responsibility and travel to various places of employment, residence and education institutions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • U.S. Citizenship;
  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent;
  • Minimum of One (1) year within the last ten (10) years of investigations experience at the federal, state, or local level of government;
  • Experience conducting one-on-one subject interviews is required;
  • Reliable personal vehicle, valid driver’s license, and satisfactory driving record;
  • Willing to travel on temporary duty assignments as needed (by car or plane);
  • Successfully pass background checks and all required training;
  • Current (within the last 2 years) Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) or active Secret level security clearance based on an SSBI and able to obtain the required security clearance.

POSITION SUMMARY

 

We are currently hiring Unarmed Security Officers to work at the Department of the Interior satellite office located in Washington DC. Various full-time shifts are available for those who possess a minimum of two years security experience and are looking to become part of a team that allows career growth.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Duties include Information Receptionist, Command Center Duties, Perimeter Patrols, Roving Patrols, Managing Parking Entrances, Electronic Security and Fire Systems, Reports and Records, X-Ray and other Screening Equipment Operation, Emergencies, and Dispatch duties.
  • Are properly trained to perform duties assigned.
  • Perform all duties as specified in accordance with the Contract and the Post Orders.
  • Are properly uniformed and present a neat, clean, and professional appearance as referenced in the SOW.
  • Are thoroughly knowledgeable about their duties and demonstrate the ability to act effectively during emergencies or other unusual situations.
  • Possess all required valid certification cards while on duty.
  • Possess all necessary permits, credentials, etc., as required by the Contract or by local or state law.
  • Are capable of frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping, up to twelve (12) hours per day, either indoors or outdoors, during daytime or nighttime. Outdoor posts may require the individual to withstand extreme heat, humidity, cold, and /or severe weather (e.g., snow, sleet, rain, hail, wind) for up to four hours without shelter.
  • Are capable of frequent contact with the general public, law enforcement, and dispatch center.
  • Are able to speak clearly and distinctly and remain calm in stressful situations (e.g., confrontations with angry, distraught, disturbed, or violent persons).
  • Possess and retain the ability to remain on post up to four consecutive hours without eating, or drinking (except for water).
  • Possess and retain the ability to maintain a high degree of alertness for up to 12 hours, with the ability to mentally and physically react quickly to a variety of unexpected and dangerous situations. Use of senses (sight, hearing, smell, touch) is necessary to discern unusual or dangerous situations.
  • Possess and retain the ability to use post security equipment, magnetometers, X- rays, screening wands, CCTV, CPU’s, ability to use handcuffs, baton, chemical spray, and (where required by post assignments) firearm at any time while on duty.
  • Possess and retain the ability to read and understand post assignments, legibly write reports, and respond to both routine and emergency dispatches/orders.
  • Possess and retain the ability to subdue violent or potentially violent or disturbed individuals, or intervene in a crisis (e.g., provide emergency first aid/CPR while waiting for arrival of paramedics or other emergency personnel).
  • Possess and retain the ability for occasional running, sprinting, lifting heavy weights, moving heavy objects, climbing stairs (e.g., responding to emergencies, ensuring timely and complete facility evacuations, giving pursuit, etc.).

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Be a citizen of the United States of America.
  • Be at least 21 years of age. While there is no limit as to the maximum age of the officers, all officers must be able to withstand the physical demands of the job and must be capable of responding to emergency situations without special accommodations by the Government. “Light duty” posts are not available.
  • Meet all Medical requirements to include drug screening.
  • Speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language fluently and compose coherent written reports in English.
  • Possess, at a minimum, either a high school diploma or a GED equivalency certificate, and meet one of the below requirements:
    • Three years of security experience within the past five years; or
    • An associate degree, or at least 60 credit hours of college coursework in in any field of study; or
    • Three years of military or National Guard (active duty or reserve) experience; or
    • Successful completion of Police Officer’s Standard Training; or
    • Any combination of the above (i.e., two years of security experience plus one year of college coursework).
  • Meet and maintain all required credentials and certificates in accordance with the contract and local laws.

Training Instructor

POSITION SUMMARY

Full Time Training Instructor of armed security officers. Serve as the designated Instructor for multiple contract training compliance requirements.

 

 RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides instruction for Firearms and Tactics courses utilizing prescribed curriculum.
  • Updates course curriculum as directed by Sr. F & T Instructor and/or management staff.
  • Teaches customized training courses.
  • Conducts mobile training.
  • Explains and demonstrates use of apparatus and equipment.
  • Evaluates the abilities of individual participants to determine suitable corrective or remedial training.
  • Maintains overall safety and organization of the training environment.
  • Ensures safety of students. Communicates and oversees compliance with company policy, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Ensures accountability for all training equipment.
  • Identifies in a timely manner training requirements needed to maintain required certifications and company standards and completes all required continuing education and refresher training programs.
  • Completes any additional training and/or certifications required by the government or the contract.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of five (5) years of training experience in civilian community law enforcement, military service law enforcement, or commercial/industrial security force service.
  • Strong organizational and computer skills
  • Possess appropriate certifications to perform First Aid, CPR, AED, Defensive Tactics, Handcuffing, Baton, OC Spray, and firearms instructions
  • Completion of an approved and accredited Principles of Instruction course and Firearms Training through (e.g. NRA, a Police Academy, State POST Academy, FLETC or military training course) preferred

  • Serve as the focal point for multiple contract training compliance requirements and be responsible for overall training quality and standards in accordance with each SOW.
  • Ability to plan training objectives and schedule personnel while ensuring contract staffing and operational continuity
  • Manage the training schedule for all employees, ensuring that all remain up to date on their certifications
  • Maintain training files and update curriculum.
  • Explain, demonstrate and ensure responsibility of equipment, maintain safety and organization of training environment.
  • Communicate and oversee compliance with company policy, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Fill in as a training instructor when/if needed

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prepares the computerized police operational journal ensuring that all information is accurately recorded in the journal prior to completion of their assigned tour
  • Monitors motion intrusion and/or panic alarm computer systems and other alarm panels in the Security Communications Center
  • Responds to emergency 911 calls by providing emergency dispatching services
  • Ask vital questions and provide pre-arrival instructions for first responders
  • Maintains maps, checklists and charts, including automated programs
  • Operates and maintains multi-line telephones, automated data processing equipment, printers, recorders, facsimile equipment, and other devices installed in the dispatch center
  • Prepares and maintains reports and records relating to emergency responses

  • Must possess a valid unrestricted automobile driver’s license

Part-time Security Command Center Dispatcher – Alexandria, VA – USPVA

This is a part-time position

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Use the approved proper radio language and assure proper radio procedures are followed
  • Monitors and operates Close Circuit Television System (CCTV) during assigned tour of duty
  • Receives all routine and emergency calls for assistance
  • Dispatches Security Officers and appropriate Security Supervisory personnel via radio or telephone to emergency calls for assistance or service on a priority basis in accordance with established rules and procedures
  • Prepares the computerized police operational journal ensuring that all information is accurately recorded in the journal prior to completion of their assigned tour
  • Monitors motion intrusion and/or panic alarm computer systems and other alarm panels in the Security Communications Center
  • Responds to emergency 911 calls by providing emergency dispatching services
  • Ask vital questions and provide pre-arrival instructions for first responders
  • Maintains maps, checklists and charts, including automated programs
  • Operates and maintains multi-line telephones, automated data processing equipment, printers, recorders, facsimile equipment, and other devices installed in the dispatch center
  • Prepares and maintains reports and records relating to emergency responses
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Regular, in-person attendance is required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 years of experience as a dispatcher security/law enforcement/military setting, including: monitoring and directing response to security law enforcement, and life safety communications; operating a variety of communications and security equipment; compiling and preparing reports related to events occurring in the operation of police control center; receiving routine and emergency calls and dispatching police/security/medical personnel
  • Must possess a valid unrestricted automobile driver’s license
  • Must be a citizen of the United States, possessing a social security card issued by the Social Security Administration
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to fluently read, write, and speak English
  • Must be capable of passing a background check, medical and psychological evaluation, drug test, and weapons qualification
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Ability to develop and maintain cooperative and professional relationships with fellow employees
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to reach conclusions and approaches to problems
  • Ability to use judgement and decision making skills to evaluate situations
  • Ability to think quickly
  • Ability work under stressful situations
  • Ability actively listen and communicate effectively through clear speech and hearing

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body
  • Sedentary work involves extended periods of sitting while engaged with a computer terminal or phone
  • Must have close visual and audio acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; determining the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work; or to make general observations of facilities or structures
  • Must meet all physical and psychological standards as required by the contract
  • Travel may be required
