Background Investigator

POSITION: Background Investigator – Must reside 35 miles radius of Bethesda, MD 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conduct federal background investigations and prepare reports of investigations in compliance with Federal Investigative Standards, all laws, and other required federal agency regulations. Work cases throughout the geographic area of responsibility and travel to various places of employment, residence and education institutions.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • U.S. Citizenship;
  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent;
  • Minimum of 1 year within the last five (5) years of investigations experience at the federal, state, or local level of government;
  • Must have some mix of NBIB/DCSA/FIS Experience;
  • Reliable personal vehicle, valid driver’s license, and satisfactory driving record;
  • Willing to travel on temporary duty assignments as needed (by car or plane);
  • Successfully pass background checks and all required training;
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists;
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in oral, written, diagram, or schedule form;
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations;
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence;
  • Ability to work in a MS Window based operating environment, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet and E-mail;
  • Current (within the last 2 years) Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) or active Secret level security clearance based on an SSBI and able to obtain the required security clearance.

 Job Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Conduct in-person, one-on-one subject interviews to obtain factual information about the individual’s background and character, in accordance with agency guidelines and instructions.
  • Obtain factual information from a variety of personal and record sources to produce a report of investigation that contains all pertinent facts of an individual’s background and character in accordance with agency guidelines and instructions.
  • Travel throughout the geographic area of responsibility to conduct investigations at various places of employment, residence, and education institutions as cases are assigned.
  •  Must be willing to travel in and around assigned location within 30-50 miles (or more) as needed
  • Engage in dialogue on a regular basis with managers and representatives at contractor facilities, various U. S. Government organizations, and law enforcement agencies to develop and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships.
  • Adapt to changing situations and environments as they occur and be able to interact with people from all walks of life and socioeconomic levels.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communications skills and exhibit professional demeanor in all situations.
  • Work load based on availability of cases in geographic area.
  • Some voluntary, temporary duty assignments in other areas of the country (typically 2-4 weeks at a time) are possible.
  • Other duties as required.

 Desired Experience and Education:

  • Office of Personnel Management investigator training.
  • Prior background investigations experience supporting government contracts.
  • Associate or Bachelor degree in Criminal Justice or a related field.
  • Current Top Secret clearance

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is typically based in the investigator’s home office as well as in the investigator’s personal vehicle traveling to various field locations to conduct interviews. Coverage area varies and could include some extended drives. Work hours vary depending on availability of leads and do not always fall within normal business hours, to include potential weekend hours or third-shift appointments.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Requires intermittent standing, writing/typing, walking, sitting, and driving throughout the workday, and may include for multiple hours.

Administrative Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY

 

Provides administrative and TAMS support to a Federal Protective Services (FPS) contract. Duties include scheduling meetings and events, processing data, providing training, and creating documents, spreadsheets and presentations. Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills are essential.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Tracks data, analyzes, produces reports and communicates results in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Tracks and promotes progress of employee award bonuses.
  • Assists with processing vendor invoices in a timely manner.
  • Communicates quarterly Compliance Training status.
  • Reviews and approves contracts’ office supplies orders.
  • Maintains multiple Excel trackers.
  • Assists field personnel by providing information and connecting them with the appropriate back-office departments when necessary.
  • Generates Costpoint requisitions. Becomes Costpoint Requisitioning and Receiving Subject Matter Expert, training field personnel as needed.
  • The TAMS Coordinator must complete FPS TAMS Records Management Training (RMT) to receive full system permission. TAMS RMT is an eight (8) hour block of instruction delivered via webinar or mobile training team. RMT is a one-time requirement. Personnel who complete RMT will be issued a TAMS Record Management Certification.
  • The TAMS Coordinator is responsible for ensuring contractor employees are issued and maintain the necessary certifications to carry out their assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • The TAMS Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that certification submissions meet all applicable DHS and FPS polices and guidelines.
  • When submitting completed training, the TAMS Coordinator shall complete all required fields and provide a roster of employees that satisfactorily completed the training.
  • The TAMS Coordinator is responsible for ensuring personnel and employment data for personnel assigned to this contract remain current in TAMS and that modifications to data are reported in a timely manner.
  • The TAMS Coordinator is responsible for maintaining accountability of records once they have been assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • High School education or GED equivalent
  • Ability to pass a background investigation.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening.
  • Minimum of 6 months prior receptionist/admin experience or equivalent workforce experience
  • Ability to handle office related material such as, computer equipment, printout paper, notebooks, ledgers, badge printer.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to research, discover and learn independently.
  • Ability to foster and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Willingness to learn new applications, become a Subject Matter Expert, create procedural documentation and provide training to others.
  • Must maintain sensitive information in confidentiality.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

Work is typically based in a busy office environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Business work hours are Monday-Friday between 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, however some extended or weekend hours may be required. 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

May be required to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 25 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday. 

 

 

 

Armed Protective Security Officer

POSITION SUMMARY

 

Staff armed security posts and provide security for the personnel and property of, and visitors to, assigned US Government Property. May also work in a Control Center.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be familiar with all state requirements and with the local jurisdictional criteria for Protective Security Officers.
  • Not inclusive – Man post in accordance with government Post Orders.
  • Perform vehicular searches to detect unauthorized material and prevent its access into the building.
  • Serve as a general security presence and visible deterrent to crime and client rule infractions.
  • Detect suspicious activities and watch for criminal acts or client rule infractions at or near assigned post, which may be a threat to the property, client, or employees at the site.
  • Report all incidents, accidents, or medical emergencies.
  • Respond to emergencies, such as medical and bomb threats, and alarms, such as fire and intrusion, by following emergency response proceedings.
  • Physically control violent or unruly crowds.
  • Attempt to subdue person in case of life and death situation.
  • Operating a motor vehicle if on applicable post.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Must be a US citizen or a lawful permanent resident who has served in the US armed forces.
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Must possess a minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess at least ONE of the following:
    • 3 years of armed security experience 
    • 2 years of US military experience, with an honorable discharge 
    • 1 year of law enforcement experience with a full-service, US police department
  • Secret or Top-Secret Security Clearance is required.
  • Shall be able to speak read, write and understand English.
  • Meet all contract requirements, including medical, drug screening, psychological, background check, training, and FPS suitability.

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

  • Business work hours are 24/7 and weekend availability is required.
  • Work is typically based in a busy environment and subject to frequent interruptions.
  • May be subject to outdoor conditions including extreme temperatures and weather.
  • Subject to high noise levels

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Heavy work: Exerting up to 200 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Must have visual and audio acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment, machines such as fire equipment and apparatuses, firearms and clearing barrels.
  • Subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
  • May be required to be fitted for and/or wear a respirator.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, often without breaks, and may be required to climb stairs or ladders and walk-up inclines and on uneven terrain.
