Veterinarian Relief

POSITION SUMMARY 

Veterinarian will work independently to diagnose, treat, medicate and/or vaccinate all K-9 working dogs to ensure they are healthy, free of disease and able to perform at their peak operational capacity. Veterinarian is responsible in ensuring K-9 areas are hygienic and safe for animals and in maintaining accurate and timely K-9 health records. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

  • Manage K-9 health and welfare for contract working dogs 
  • Responsible for K-9 emergency care, preventative care and the treatment of any illness or injury incurred while on contract 
  • Responsible for diagnosing and treating disease dysfunctions and injuries of canines 
  • Examine the animal to determine the nature of disease or injury and treat the animal surgically or medically 
  • Test canines for diseases and inoculate against diseases and disorders and will advise handlers about sanitary measures, feeding and general care to promote health of the animals 
  • Responsible for distribution of preventative K-9 medications, ordering veterinarian and K-9 supplies, maintaining current and accurate K-9 health records in PMIS database, inspecting Kennels and other K-9 spaces and conducting necessary K-9 safety training for K-9 handlers 
  • Other duties as assigned  

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M or V.M.D.) Degree from a 4-year program at an accredited college of Veterinary Medicine 
  • Must be licensed
  • Knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo; includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques and disposal methods 
  • Must be able to pass medical physical for deployment 
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization 
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion 
  • Problem solving skills with an analytical thought process 
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment

WORKING CONDITIONS 

 

Work is typically based in a busy office environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Travel to austere environments may also be required. Additional specific details related to working conditions may be outlined in your Statement of Work or Employee Agreement. 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

May be required to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 75 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday. Requires constant use of hands and fingers to feel, handle or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. Protective Security Specialist (PSS) | WPSIII

  • Perform day-to-day personal protective security functions.
  • Drive the lead vehicle, principal’s vehicle, follow-vehicle, and/or act as response agent whenever required in motorcade or similar operations.
  • Carry and operate weapons as specified in daily post and detail orders, or upon orders from the SDL, USC, or SL.
  • Participate in advance security preparations.
  • Man the security post at the principal’s residence, the command post, or other static post as required.
  • Serve as a member of a QRF as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and a valid U.S. tourist passport for application processing
  • Must be able to obtain an Iraq Work permit; per the parameters of the Law Regulating Private Security Companies in Iraq NO (52) 2017 
  • Must possess a minimum of three (3) years of applicable experience
    • A minimum of one (1) year of this experience must include experience in protective security assignments
    • Experience may be gained in the employ of any national, state, provincial, local, or commercial entities providing armed high threat protective services that require skills similar to those identified in the required training course
  • Must attend and successfully complete required training
  • Qualify with the Glock-19, M4, M240, M249, and requalifying as required by the task order (TO)
  • Obtain and maintain a personnel security clearance as identified in the contract (DOS Secret level)
  • Complete the Physical Readiness Test (PRT) at the 65% performance level and maintain that fitness level for the duration of the contract
  • Must possess no impediments to travel overseas to and within countries that are considered dangerous or unhealthy in general, or to the country or countries assigned in the applicable task order in specific
  • As required by the Client, applicants will need to show proof of full vaccination status, defined as vaccinated two weeks after receiving the requisite number of doses of a COVID-19 vaccine approved or authorized for emergency use by the FDA

  • Attend and successfully complete required training
  • A minimum of three (3) years of pre-hospital emergency medical services experience at the paramedic level.  While the Government may accept military service as a medical provider (including special operations units) to satisfy this requirement, the Government will not accept service in which a non-medical provider (infantryman, vehicle operator, clerk, etc.) provides medical first response as an ancillary duty in satisfaction of this requirement.  Work experience in a hospital or clinic setting does not satisfy this requirement.
  • Obtain and maintain a personnel security clearance during the duration of the task order
  • Complete the Physical Readiness Test at the 65 % performance level and maintain that fitness level for the duration of the task order
  • Qualify with the Glock-19, M4 or MK18 as specified by the designated TO, M240, and M249, re-qualifying as required by the task order
  • Must possess current National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians certification as a Paramedic. Registration must be valid prior to deployment, and remain valid throughout the period of deployment
  • Must possess current approved CPR professional rescuer, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and advanced trauma training credentials (i.e., Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS) or Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or equivalent)
  • Must have successfully completed the Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) course, or an equivalent tactical trauma course of at least 16 hours duration, within the last ninety (90) days.  Completion of the PHTLS or ITLS course required in subparagraph C above does not satisfy this requirement
  • Possess no impediments to travel overseas to and within countries that are considered dangerous or unhealthy in general, or to the country or countries assigned in the applicable task order in specific

  • Report to the DOS weapons program officer from DS/PSP/DEAV for all work-related technical activities
  • Maintain open communications with DS/PSP/DEAV Armory for all work-related technical activities
  • Repair and maintain all task order weapons, vehicle and equipment maintenance
  • Responsible for the installation of special technical equipment for DOS weapons, including, but not limited to:
  • USG-provided optical devices
  • Flashlights
    • Grenade launchers
    • Night vision equipment
    • Laser sights
  • Responsible for test firing all WPS weapons systems as required in the performance of their duties, on a case-by-case basis, and with approval by the DS/RSO COR. Test firing shall be conducted in coordination with a BFFOC-certified firearms instructor.

    • A minimum of two (2) years of this experience must have been in property management with demonstrable experience in at least three (3) of the following areas:

      • Movement and transfers
