Position Overview

Staff armed security posts and provide security for the personnel and property of, and visitors to, assigned US Government Property. May also work in a Control Center.

 

Responsibilities

  • Protect personnel and property in a professional manner
  • Meet and deal tactfully and politely with general public and visitors
  • Effectively and efficiently screen and process visitors
  • Identify, report, delay or detain persons who violate rules and regulations
  • Conduct internal and external roving foot patrols
  • Traffic control
  • Ability to maintain excellent detection rate on x ray machine
  • Detect and respond to alarms and emergencies
  • Secure entrances and exits during emergencies
  • Control keys and lock combinations
  • Communicate and remain accessible via two way radio or company issued cellular phone
  • Understand and comply with all requirements defined within company documents to include: Post and General Orders, plans, policies, procedures.
  • Observe and report all offenses/incidents
  • Complete all reports and paperwork as required
  • Provide first aid, CPR, and assist during emergencies as necessary.
  • Must be able to wear protective body armor as a part of the duty uniform.
  • Maintain mandated training requirements in accordance with company guidance.
  • Maintain physical fitness, agility requirements, and weapons qualifications.
  • Ensure safety requirements compliance and safe work practices.
  • Support safety programs Participate in Quality and Process Improvement programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Regular, in-person attendance is required.

Qualifications

  • Have verifiable documentation of a least one experience level and at least one educational level or any reasonable combination listed below:
    • Experience
      • A minimum of two (2) years of security (armed) or law enforcement experience; or
      • A Minimum of two (2) years of honorable service as a member of any U.S. Armed Forces Component.
    • Education
      • Received a High School Diploma from an accredited learning institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or as identified on a DD 214; or
      • Received a General Equivalency Diploma from an accredited learning institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or as identified on a DD 214; or
      • A minimum of 60 credit hours, in a related field, from an accredited learning institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education; or
      • Successful completion of a federal/state certified law enforcement education and training or police officer’s standard training course that may result in a law enforcement appointment of commission
  • Must possess an active Florida D & G Security License
  • Be a United States citizen
  • Been issued a Social Security Card by the Social Security Administration, which bears the individuals name and social security number
  • Shall fluently speak, read, comprehend, and compose coherent written reports in English.  Must be able to pass an English Language Assessment Test.
  • Be a minimum of 21 Years of age.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Heavy work: Exerting up to 200 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Must have visual and audio acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment, machines such as fire equipment and apparatuses, firearms and clearing barrels.
  • May be subject to outdoor conditions including extreme temperatures and weather
  • Subject to high noise levels
  • Subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals
  • May be required to be fitted for and/or wear a respirator
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, often without breaks, and may be required to climb stairs or ladders and walk up inclines and on uneven terrain.

Training Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

 

Full Time Training Manager of armed security officers. Serve as the focal point for multiple contract training compliance requirements and be responsible for overall training quality and standards in accordance with each SOW

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the focal point for multiple contract training compliance requirements and be responsible for overall training quality and standards in accordance with each SOW.
  • Ability to plan training objectives and schedule personnel while ensuring contract staffing and operational continuity
  • Manage the training schedule for all employees, ensuring that all remain up to date on their certifications
  • Maintain training files and update curriculum.
  • Explain, demonstrate and ensure responsibility of equipment, maintain safety and organization of training environment.
  • Communicate and oversee compliance with company policy, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Fill in as a training instructor when/if needed

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Minimum of two (2) years of training experience in civilian community law enforcement, military service law enforcement, or commercial/industrial security force service.
  • Strong organizational and computer skills
  • Possess appropriate certifications to perform First Aid, CPR, AED, Defensive Tactics, Handcuffing, Baton, OC Spray, and firearms instructions
  • Completion of an approved and accredited Principles of Instruction course and Firearms Training through (e.g. NRA, a Police Academy, State POST Academy, FLETC or military training course) preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of FPS training requirements and qualifications preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is typically based in a busy environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Business work hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, however some extended or weekend hours may be required. 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

Must be able to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 100 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday.

Position Overview

Oversees and supervises the operations of FPS Protective Security Officers in a designated area on a Department of Homeland Security contract. Ensures that all contractual requirements are met in a timely and efficient manner.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and supervises the operations of FPS Protective Security Officers in a designated area on a Department of Homeland Security contract. Ensures that all contractual requirements are met in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Keep the Program Manager’s Office informed of all potential problems and threatening situations, and provide alternatives for solutions, when possible.
  • Ensure that all posts are covered while minimizing overtime.
  • Verifies that recorded times are correct. Reports any discrepancies in a timely manner to ensure that corrections can be made prior to submission deadline.
  • Provides direct supervision over officers. Supports and encourages officer’s career goals. Provides direction and mentorship for officers to obtain goals.
  • Participate in conducting new hire interviews under the direction of the Contract Manager. Maintain confidentiality during and after interviews.
  • Understands and upholds the Rules of Personal Conduct and contractual agreements. Ensures that officers follow order of contractual agreements.
  • Conduct post and officer inspections ensuring officers have appropriate uniform and equipment, and are following all policies, procedures, and post orders.
  • Investigate incidents, and provide coherent written reports documenting site inspections, and disciplinary actions.
  • Demonstrate capability in managing multiple tasks as well as demonstrate capability in delegating tasks to officers when appropriate.
  • Ensure each Patrol Officer completes their required patrols.
  • Ensure all Security Officers complete the paperwork related to their Posts to include the 139.
  • Ensure all Security Officers attendance is documented by utilizing the site-specific access control systems.
  • Must be available 24/7 including holidays unless otherwise specified or time off was approved.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

Qualifications

  • Ability to pass and maintain Federal adjudications background check (public trust adjudications).
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with a Social Security Card
  • Possess at least one of the following experience/education criteria:
    • Minimum two (2) years armed security experience
    • Served minimum two (2) years in the U.S. Armed Services (including reserve or national guard),
    • Any combination of two (2) years’ experience in physical security and service with the U.S. Armed Services
  • Florida Department of Agriculture state firearms license (G License)
  • Possess Florida Department of Agriculture state Security Officer’s License (D License)
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and reporting writing skills
  • Training skills to develop personnel, understand and perpetuate succession planning (Mentoring) and demonstrate leadership
  • Ability to counsel and discipline in effective manner in both negative and positive situations
  • Ability to identify strengths and weaknesses in personnel and communicate corrective solutions
  • Ability to always maintain professional appearance, demeanor, and command presence to convey authority in security situations
  • Must have a positive attitude toward work and workers and lead by example
  • Ability to read, speak and understand English language fluently
  • Ability to make decisions quickly and accurately
  • Ability to manage multiple Security Officers on various posts with 24/7 coverage
  • Must be available for contact 24/7
  • Computer proficient to include in Microsoft Office Suite, (Word, Excel) and E-mail
  • Must be able to pass contract required training and obtain all required certifications
  • Must be in good standing with the company with excellent record of performance and attendance.

 

 Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Must meet all medical, physical, psychological and drug test standards as outlined in the contract
  • Some travel required. Mileage reimbursed for travel to areas outside of the scope of normal commute standards as dictated in contract’s Statement of Work
  • Position requires sitting for long periods of time and continuous computer use
  • Must be able to use hands and wrists for typing and computer usage for long periods of time.
  • Some activities may involve standing for long periods of time.
