This issue of Constellis’ Kidnap for Ransom Insight Report covers global kidnapping incidents and trends for the months of November and December 2020, as well as January 2021. This issue’s Focus Article examines kidnapping in Haiti, where a new cycle was observed throughout 2020, linked to socio-political instability and the economic crisis brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. This is expected to persist over 2021 as the climate of insecurity continues to worsen, with the security forces appearing unable to control the rampant criminality and violence created by local gangs.
