Explosive Detection Dog (EDD)

The Leader in K-9 Detection®

AMK9 a Constellis company logo

Also known as bomb dogs or bomb sniffing dogs, Explosive Detection Dogs detect a variety of explosive materials near building exteriors, secluded areas, security checkpoints, vehicles, packages, and pedestrians. EDD teams are a strong visible and psychological deterrent against criminal and terrorist threats.

Constellis EDD teams include highly trained detection dogs and experienced handlers. Each canine and handler team work together to conduct searches for a variety of explosive materials near building exteriors, secluded areas, security checkpoints, vehicles, packages, and pedestrians in and around assigned facilities.

Strategic Security

Explosive Detection Dog teams play a critical role in our comprehensive preventive security measures. We utilize these specialize teams to support strategic explosive detection activities and provide immediate response to bomb threats and other dangerous items.

Preventive Tactics

These bomb detection activities allow EDD teams to detect or quickly rule out the presence of dangerous materials and allow customers to continue operating with minimal or no interruption.

Comprehensive Training and Certification

Prior to certification our teams undergo rigorous training that tracks core progression and operational preparedness. Our EDD teams receive continuous and comprehensive training throughout the year to maintain and advance proficiency for the assigned program. To ensure an objective certification is in order, Constellis uses a nationally recognized third party with an accredited program to certify our teams.

Certification Standards include the following:

  • North American Police Work Dog Association (NAPWDA)
  • International Police Work Dog Association (IPWDA)
  • TSA Third-Party Canine (3PK9- Cargo)
  • Department of Defense (DoD)
  • Department of State (DoS)
  • United Nations
  • Our In-Service Reinforcement Training consists of four layers:
  • Daily and weekly proficiency training
  • Formal training sessions
  • Monthly review of training records and usage report for accuracy
  • Quarterly validations

Trainings are conducted in as realistic an environment as possible with consideration for the safety of the canine, handler, site personnel and guests. Trainings will not take place at any locations where it might interfere with the duties of site personnel.
