Weapons and Ammunition Management

Physical Security and Stockpile Management (PSSM)

Proper storage and destruction of unused weapons are vital to preventing munitions from ending up in the wrong hands. Criminal and rebel forces, especially in regions plagued by weak government or conflict, work to divert these legal stockpiles into the black market. Strict weapons and ammunition management and strong security forces are necessary to combat this problem.

Constellis company TDI has worked for years with post-conflict countries, using specialized knowledge in weapons and ammunition management to help with physical security and stockpile management (PSSM) such as storage, handling, transportation and operating procedures as well as disposal of small arms and light weapons (SALW). We provide guidance to communities to help them properly destroy weapons left behind after armed conflict, threat level reductions or because new weapons have been acquired. This ensures that the unused weapons and ammunition do not wind up in the hands of those who would use it for violence.

In addition to being one of the safest course of action, destroying surplus and obsolete weapons is cost-effective, reduces the likelihood that weapons and ammunition end up in the hands of rebel groups, and brings stability to post-conflict areas.
