Afghanistan Weekly Report June 8, 2017

This week in our Afghanistan report, at least 18 people were killed and dozens wounded in three back-to-back explosions including an IED and two suicide vest bombings (SVESTs), which tore through a cemetery in the Khair Khana area of Kabul on the afternoon of June 3rd. The incident occurred amid ongoing conflict at the provincial level linked to the Taliban’s spring fighting campaign. On June 6th a remote-controlled bomb in a motorcycle detonated outside western Herat city’s Great Mosque on, killing nine and injuring more than a dozen.
