POSITION: Background Investigator
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct federal background investigations and prepare reports of investigations in compliance with ICD 704 standards, all laws, and other required federal agency regulations. Work cases throughout the geographic area of responsibility and travel to various places of employment, residence and education institutions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- U.S. Citizenship;
- H.S. Diploma or equivalent;
- Minimum of One (1) year within the last ten (10) years of investigations experience at the federal, state, or local level of government;
- Experience conducting one-on-one subject interviews is required;
- Reliable personal vehicle, valid driver’s license, and satisfactory driving record;
- Willing to travel on temporary duty assignments as needed (by car or plane);
- Successfully pass background checks and all required training;
- Current (within the last 2 years) Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) or active Secret level security clearance based on an SSBI and able to obtain the required security clearance.

Position Summary
The Graphics Designer will support the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs (PM) and Global Defense Reform Program (GDRP) by collaborating with a diverse team of Foreign Policy Experts, Data Scientists, Public Affairs Officers and Budget Analysts to help build creative solutions for a variety of digital and print materials.
Responsibilities
- Help team members convey insights and engage the viewer on foreign policy options and decisions, budgetary considerations and tradeoffs, complex data derived from the Bureau’s global presence and activities and strategic messaging for Bureau initiatives
- Develop communications strategies for presenting various forms of numerical information (foreign aid data, budget planning options, strategic tradeoff, etc.) as compelling visuals that tell narratives, not numbers
- Working with office directors and other stakeholders, develop professional and modern visual design guidelines for the Bureau’s visual brand, to include slide deck templates, color palettes, charts, maps, logos, iconography and typesetting
- Educate fellow employees on how to use custom designed templates, placemat and other products.
- Engage with our data analytics team to design visually compelling products that translate complex, numerical analysis into compelling visuals
- Conceptualize and design custom visual solutions for internal offices and their initiatives and projects
- Design layouts, infographics, branding and graphics that incorporate iconography, illustrations, photography and typography
- Use Adobe Suite and Microsoft applications to create custom solutions that meet specific project needs
- Manage multiple projects and concurrent deliverables in order to meet deadlines
- Communicate concepts, rationale and creative direction to internal teams
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Secret Security Clearance required
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts or related field and 5+ years of relative work experience.
- Experience in the visual representation of complex data and strong online portfolio of client work.
- Must be detail-orientated and methodical.
- Independent worker with great self-management skills.
- Expertise in Adobe® Creative Suite applications (especially Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Excel.
- Excellent writing skills
- Keen eye for detail
- Passion and skill for visual storytelling
- Strong presentation, communications and analytical skills
- Ability to work on multiple issue areas and projects concurrently
- A background in foreign policy, national security, politics, or a related field; or a basic understanding of such concepts; or previous graphic design work in such fields
- Experience in social media
- Experience in translating and visually communicating insights derived from Tableau dashboards
- Certificates in MS Office, or other industry standard qualifications
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is typically based in a busy office environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Business work hours are Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, however, some extended or weekend hours may be required. Travel to austere environments may also be required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
May be required to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 25 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday. Additional specific details related to physical requirements may be outlined in the Company’s Performance Work Statement or Contract with the client.

POSITION: Background Field Investigator – (Entry Level)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct federal background investigations and prepare reports of investigations in compliance with Federal Investigative Standards, all laws, and other required federal agency regulations. Work cases throughout the geographic area of responsibility and travel to various places of employment, residence, and education institutions.
Driving is an essential function of the job and Motor Vehicle Records may be checked as part of the hiring process or at any time during employment. Candidates with poor driving history will not be considered.
Clearance Requirement:
- Current (within the last 2 years) Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) or active Secret level security clearance based on an SSBI or
- Candidate must be willing to complete security paperwork and participate in a Background Investigation to include 10+ years of history comprising items such as residence, education, employment, financial, medical, and personal records
- Ability to acquire and maintain any other specific special clearances/access requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a citizen of the United States
- 4-year Bachelor’s degree from accredited College or University
- Reliable personal vehicle, valid driver’s license, and satisfactory driving record
- Attend and successfully pass all required training which includes 4-week virtual classroom training and 2-week in person mentorship with Senior Investigator
Desired Experience and Education:
- Office of Personnel Management investigator training.
- Prior background investigations experience supporting government contracts.
- Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or a related field.
- Current Top-Secret clearance
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-person, one-on-one subject interviews to obtain information about the individual’s background and character, in accordance with agency guidelines and instructions.
- Obtain factual information from a variety of personal and record sources to produce a report of investigation that contains all pertinent facts of an individual’s background and character in accordance with agency guidelines and instructions
- Complete record checks at law enforcement agencies, courthouses, education and employment records, financial/bankruptcy records, and medical/mental health records
- Obtain and complete fieldwork in a rapid, time-sensitive work environment while meeting quality and timeliness metrics
- Travel throughout the geographic area of responsibility to conduct investigations at various places of employment, residence, and education institutions as cases are assigned
- Must be willing to travel in and around assigned location within 30-50 miles (or more), radius of their region (or more as needed)
- Engage in dialogue on a regular basis with case managers and representatives at contractor facilities, various U. S. Government organizations, and law enforcement agencies to develop and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships
- Communicate effectively with Regional Field Managers, Lead Investigators, and Case Managers to ensure timeliness and thoroughness of investigations
- Adapt to changing situations and environments as they occur and be able to interact with people from all walks of life and socioeconomic levels
- Demonstrate strong verbal and written communications skills and exhibit professional demeanor in all situations
- Workload based on availability of cases in geographic area
- Some voluntary, temporary duty assignments in other areas of the country (typically 2-4 weeks at a time) are possible
- Must reside within 15-20 miles of requisition location at time of training starting Location changes could impact continued employment.
